John Hoyland
John Hoyland is a journalist, author and campaign organiser who currently works for New Scientist magazine. As a writer and editor, his works include a children’s novel (The Ivy Garland), an anthology of essays about men’s relationship with their fathers (Fathers and Sons) and two stage plays performed by Foco Novo theatre company in theatres and miners welfare clubs (The Nine Days and Saltley Gates and Tighten Your Belt).
As a freelance journalist he has written for The Guardian, The Independent, Time Out and New Statesman and has worked as a television researcher and as a news writer for Independent Radio News. He has also contributed to various music magazines and has written pamphlets and booklets on issues such as the environment and the organisation of community festivals.
From 1982 to 1986 he was editor of Jobs for a Change, a monthly newspaper about the London economy published by the Greater London Council. He has also been editor of Youth against the Bomb, the newspaper of the Youth Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament.
Scott Lanphere
Scott Lanphere is managing partner of Aletheia Partners, a London-based private equity organisation which initiates investments in European leveraged transactions typically ranging between €100 million and €1 billion in enterprise value. He has spent eighteen years in the private equity sector and has a track record in Europe covering more than sixteen transactions with an equity investment volume of more than €1 billion and a gross annual IRR of more than 58 per cent. These investments included the use of public market financing with seven SEC-registered high-yield transactions and two SEC-registered junior debt transactions.
Scott Lanphere began his career with Advent International in Boston, before coming to Europe in 1991 and becoming a partner in the European buyout group. He moved to Morgan Grenfell Private Equity in late 1988 as a partner. He has served as a member of the boards of Kabelmedia (Germany), @Entertainment (UK), HMV Group (UK) and Go Outdoor Systems Holdings (France) to name but a few. He is currently on the board of Escaline S.a.r.l., the ultimate holding company of ewt Holdings GmbH.
Steven Saltzman
Steven Saltzman is the son of Harry Saltzman (who produced the first nine James Bond films in partnership with Cubby Broccoli). He has founded a number of radio companies and currently acts as a consultant to various media groups including Crown Communications PLC (UK), Hachette/Europe Communications (France), Music In Europe SA, SBS (Scandinavia), Mega Radio (Germany) (which he co-founded), Finelco (Italy and Monaco), Marcor (Monaco), Morris Communications (US), Aletheia Partners (UK) and Media Metrie (France).
