TIM LOTT

Tim Lott is the author of the autobiographical The Scent of Dried Roses (winner of the J. R. Ackerley Prize in 1996), White City Blue (winner of the Whitbread First Novel Award, a pioneer of the 'lad lit' genre and based on a close-up of the friends of his hairdresser brother), Rumours of a Hurricane (shortlisted for the Whitbread Novel Award and a sharp observation of 80s Britain), The Love Secrets of Don Juan, and The Seymour Tapes, his entry into children's fiction, aimed at the under-10s.

Fearless, about young girls' friendships, and based on observing his own young daughters, was published in June 2007 and is available in separate adult and young adult editions.

Lott describes himself as "a working-class Londoner". One of the UK's leading male authors, he has also worked as a broadcaster, magazine editor, journalist and television producer, and a radio and TV critic. He is a regular panelist on BBC2's Newsnight Review and recently presented a BBC4 programme on class in British society. He is currently working on an original feature-length television comedy drama The Rough Guide to Doing Nothing for BBC2, and a feature-length adaptation of his novel The Seymour Tapes for Channel 4. He lives in London and has four young daughters, aged between seven months and 13 years.

His donated story, Superman, is a raw tale about a young boy's confusion as his parents try to instill a sense of right and wrong whilst their own behaviour contradicts their words.
